Summary
KomaLens is a Bring-Your-Own-Key (BYOK) browser extension. It does not have a backend server, does not collect analytics, and does not see, store, or transmit your data to the developer in any form.
What KomaLens does
- You select an area of your screen (a manga panel, a subtitle, a sign in a video, any text you want explained).
- Your browser captures that area locally.
- The captured image is sent directly from your browser to OpenRouter, using your own OpenRouter API key, to be processed by the AI model you selected.
- The response (translation / explanation) is shown to you in a side panel next to the page.
At no point does this data pass through, or get stored on, any server operated by the developer of KomaLens — because no such server exists.
Data we store
- Your OpenRouter API key and your extension settings (selected model, language preferences, UI options) are stored only in
chrome.storage.local, i.e., only on your own device. This data is never synced to Google's servers and never leaves your computer except when sent directly to OpenRouter as part of a translation request.
- We do not collect browsing history, analytics, telemetry, or any personally identifiable information.
Third parties
When you use KomaLens, the image you select and your API key are sent to:
- OpenRouter (openrouter.ai), which routes the request to the AI model you chose (e.g., a Gemini, GPT, Claude, or Qwen model). Review OpenRouter's own privacy policy for how they and their model providers handle that data: https://openrouter.ai/privacy
The developer of KomaLens has no access to, and receives no copy of, this traffic.
